By the very nature of portable computing, Laptops and notebooks are prone
to "disappearing" either from the users desk or while on the road. There
are two main factors to consider - the hardware itself and the data on the
computer itself.
Secure PC can offer a number of solutions to these problems. Cable systems
alarms, safes, labelling, data protection.

Kensington
Micro Saver (tm)
Kensington is the 'de facto' standard for notebook security. Almost
all notebooks and laptops have a Kensington slot on them. The Kensington
Microsaver is an all in one cable and lock that fits into the security
slot. The security slot is normally situated on the side or back of
your notebook. To secure, simply install the cable into the slot,
remove key and wrap around a secure object. The Kensington Microsaver
is ideal to prevent opportunistic theft while in the office, on a
train, plane or in a hotel. We would not necessarily recommend this
system where laptops are left unattended for long periods or overnight.

TFT
monitor security cable
TFT monitors can be inexpensively secured with steel cables. Cables
enable the monitor to be in a flexible position for the user. The
TFT monitor secured in the image is held in two places to an anchor
point. The loop shown around the leg, forms a fixed loop which prevents
theft.. The cable is also tied to the monitor screen via screw-on
cable lock and padlock. Padlocks can be keyed alike or different.

Floppy
lock and cable
A variation on the Kensington and secure lock. This device uses a
floppy lock to secure your notebook. A floppy lock is installed into
your floppy drive and attached to a cable that secures around an immovable
object. We would recommend you test one before purchasing as this
can in some machines cause damage to the floppy mechanism itself.

Link IT
It is very rare that a new product gets us excited. This one did.
Link IT is primarily designed to protect the data on your notebook
or computer. The system uses a RF transmitter that plugs into a spare
serial port. The transceiver is one of the smallest on the market.
The user is issued with a card, which he can clip on to his/her clothing
(similar to swipe cards). When the user leaves the vicinity of the
computer a security screen saver drops down and prevents anybody accessing
the computer. When the user returns the screensaver automatically
disappears. Up to 10 users can be granted access to computers. The
system has many additional features such as logging time on the computer,
your own logo or message for the screensaver, administrator controls
etc. etc. Future releases will include encryption, tagging and asset
control. For a full spec sheet and user guide please contact us.
Price guide: £69 + vat for reader and RF transceiver. Additional
